I enjoyed this sequel to the Christmas in Montana series and especially enjoyed Rob Santoro, a character from the first books in the Urban Farm Fresh series, crossed over into the lead hero of this story. Rob is more mature in this story, and successful in his business career. Even though he has gladly left his large, meddling, Italian family behind in Spokane, Washington, he finds his independence comes with a price...loneliness. Bren is a minor character in More than a Tiara; a single mother, saved by grace, and trying to raise two children on her own. Bren works hard and strives to be a good mother to her young son and daughter, but she realizes she can't provide the 'father figure' they need. She is weighed down by the guilt of the choices she's made in the past that tarnish her reputation in the present. Her friends see Bren as a beautiful new creation in Christ, but Bren remains chained to her past. When Rob enters the picture, Bren faces the dilemma of remaining chained and alone or forgiving herself and taking a chance on the future...a future that may include the love of a lifetime. Valerie Comer has a writing style that entertains, but also encourages the reader to think about the choices that aid or hinder them from fully living in faith. Another great read. It is good to read how God works using our past mistakes as a blessing for others. I would definitely recommend the book to others.
Nor do I tire of the way she writes her stories! This book is not easy to put down! Amazing Bren has so many characteristics with which I can identify, it was easy to get into the scenes and feel what she was feeling. Enjoy!
I love Valerie Comer stories! This new story blended stories from the past with new main characters to create a fun and encouraging read. Just like in all of Valerie's books, there is Godly encouragement that allows me to think beyond the plot and storyline. Check it out!
Valerie Comer gives us a lovely addition to the Christmas in Montana Romance series with the story of Bren and Rob.
We see God's love working in Bren's life enabling her to be a witness to others.
I love all the characters and the opportunity to see the blending of two series.

What a wonderful story for this time of year. The characters are strong people with good values and that is wonderful when so much of what we see and hear today is about the other side of life. This book reminds us that even though we accept God's grace and forgiveness, we often times find it hard to forgive ourselves. This book is Valerie Comer at her very best.
Bren Haddock has had a rough time. Now all she wants is to provide her children with a safe home and nourishing food to eat. . . and the Little Miss Snowflake Pageant isn’t on her list of activities, either. But there are a few people involved who don’t want to take no for an answer.
When Rob Santoro meets Bren, sparks fly! The problem is, Rob is more or less someone who doesn’t want–or need–to be around people much, and Bren’s two children are pretty normal kids. . . loud, active, and the center of Bren’s life.
Can Rob possibly let go of his peace and quiet. . . and let in an entire family? You won’t know until you read the story. . . and please read the story. It’s a really great story!
My thoughts First, the disclaimer. "I purchased a copy of this book. All opinions are my own." That done, I really enjoy Ms. Comer's books (one of my favorite contemporary romance authors) and OTHER THAN A HALO is no exception. It is well-thought out with realistic characters, broken and forgiven, a strong faith message that is flawlessly inserted, and a hero who is so sweet, kind, and considerate.
There is (as I said) a strong faith message, and also a strong farm message, as Bren is a farmer, managing a farm that was started in the first book in this series (More Than a Tiara). I like the way Ms. Comer combined beauty and nature, farms and fantasy. I also loved how even the hurts were used to minister to the hurting -- just like God to do so.
If you like contemporary romance, try Ms. Comer's books. A great read, and highly recommended. I loved this story and can't wait to read Ms. Comer's next book (coming next month, though it won't be in this series). Check her books out.
